Wired or Lucky?

One could always carp about Wired magazine's effusive techno-determinism, but, hey, there'd still be some good acticles and ideas in there.

Anyone noticed these days how it's turned into a shopping rag for the geek set? Every damn article is either a nerd reacharound (Peter Jackson, George Lucas, Trek, et al) or lists of fabu gadgets, gizmos, and geegaws that you, Yes, Lucky YOU!!! can rush online to buy.

It's become this weird hybrid of its old self and, dunno, Details or Cargo. <> Kinda embarrassing to have it sitting on my john these days.

(It's an old free subscription).
